Welcome to the CAPE Tutorial!

As part of this workshop, you will learn about CAPE—a design environment for adaptive online learning.

To begin, please download a zip archive of workshop materials. When asked, save the file to your desktop.

Please extract the archive into your CAPE Projects folder, typically found in your My Documents folder. If you are unfamiliar with zip archives, you can follow these instructions:

  1. Open your CAPE Projects folder.
The CAPE Installer should have created a folder in your My Documents folder called CAPE Projects. If the installer did not do this, please create this folder yourself and then open it.
  2. Open (double-click) the VaNTH Tutorial.zip file on your desktop.
When you open a zip archive, its contents are presented in a view that looks like a normal file browser. However, this presentation is deceptive: it is simply a listing of the contents of the archive. Files appearing in this content listing cannot always be used as normal files. You need to extract such archive contents.
  3. Drag the VaNTH Tutorial folder from the zip archive browser into the CAPE Projects folder.
When you perform this step, the folder and its contents are extracted from the archive and copied to the drop location.

The contents of the VaNTH Tutorial folder are shown below. When instructed to do so, you will open the tutorial.cape file by double-clicking it.

Please relax and have a good time with the tutorial.
